Cruise control

Hello everyone,

Just received in the mail yesterday the aluminum version of the Go Cruise cruise control. This is a simple and very well designed unit and it works great on these long highway cruises.

I am a new member from Victoria, BC, Canada. I recently bought a 2013 C 600 sport and love it! I have been riding motorcycles for more than 40 years and this is my first maxi-scooter. Bought it mainly because my hip does not allow me to ride a regular motorcycle for more than one hour at a time. The new scoot is absolutely fantastic and even after three hour in the saddle I am still feeling great!

By the way there will be a scooter rally in Victoria on the weekend of May 17 and 18. I will post more details later as soon as I get more information about the event.

Welcome to the club. You've made the right choice on the Sport. Sure, it's easily 4:1 GT's out there, but choosing a Sport puts you amongst the elite of the elite. It says, hey I can adjust my own windscreen and I want to keep my helmet in a secret trap door. I absolutely love mine and I'm sure you'll find it as versatile and just plain fun as the rest of us do.

Us GT owners can also adjust our own windscreen; we just do it with our thumb. It's way cooler to just thumb it.

Yes welcome, Sports are neat, GT's are AWESOME! It's all about the thumbs, separates from apes and "sports" 😄

Riding in my home town today I stopped at a local watering hole that a lot of bad ass bikers frequent (Starbucks). Couple comments about not knowing BMW was making maxi-scooters and that my GT looked pretty cool, caused me to admit that there is also a Beemer sport version that may also have one or two positive attributes. It hurt, I admit it, but I suppose its true.

Sometimes it's fun to banter about who's stuff is better, but as we all know, the Sport and the GT are basically the same bike. But there is one thing about the Sport models that I like MUCH better than the Gt's and that is the color choices! Yes the GT colors are richer looking but, compared to the Sport models, they are really boring.

Not a chance Xian! I totally agree ref the colour choice hence my plans to liven up my black GT. My only comment on the difference would be how incredibly useful the electric screen adjustment is..... I can't believe how often I adjust it based on which helmet, glasses, visor up or down etc etc.... So easy to get perfection!

The Sport can fit 2 full sized lids with Sena Bluetooth attached easily under the seat when the trap door is deployed. I suspected that was the case. I guess a top box is needed for those GT owners who ride 2 up a lot and want to secure their brain buckets.

Yeah, EVERY article I read about the GT (before I made my purchase) claimed you could fit two full faced helmets under the seat of the GT. Shows you how much the writers actually fact check their articles!! Of course, I've also read reviews that lamented the BMW scoots didn't have self-canceling signals or a locking glove box too...

While I have never fit 2 helmets under GT's seat (never tried) I carry the following on a regular basis:
Rain pants
Rain jacket
Extra heavy coat or leathers depending on which I was wearing at the time
Two pair of extra gloves
extra pair of pants
Hi-viz full sleeved over shirt
flashlight
ipad
security locks
bungee cords
tire repair kit
wrist and ankle covers
golf shoes with "stuff" inside
plus a few other misc small items that I can't think of at the moment.

And that does not include the glove boxes: balaclava, neck cover, phone with charger, paper map, side stand spotter, and probably a thing or two I've forgotten I keep in there (time for Spring cleaning, I guess).

All that and only take out the extra jacket if I am riding to work and have to include my briefcase.

I'm thinking that if I am lucky enough to have someone to ride 2up, I'll carry her helmet into the restaurant.

@Pierrel- I just ordered the aluminum Go Cruise today, in part based on your review. So I better like it! ;) It seems to have a lot of benefits over the plastic versions, for only $10 more. If I hate it, I can move up to the Throttlemeister that I've seen discussed here, or the Kaoko. It seems very easy to set and release the throttle with it, and with the adjustments that the aluminum version offers, it looks like a perfect accessory.

The price difference between the Go Cruise and the other options was obviously a factor in me deciding to go for the Go Cruise. I tried it briefly on the highway the other day and it works as advertised. I am planning a longer trip next weekend and will report here if I encounter any problems. So far I find the unit very easy to use and also easy to remove from the bike when I am riding only around town.

Of course, the Sport is way better looking. With all that storage space the GT meets its initials-----Godawful Tubby!!!! Although not as tubby as a Burgman.
Having had a Silverwing, I know I carried way to much stuff with all that space, and it made the bike a lot heavier then necessary. The Sport might only be twenty-five lbs. lighter,
but the GT storage will open the spread.

Now now boys. :D

Today, I am going to visit my dealer for a couple things (his new F800GS inventory being one of them!!!). He just sold out his 650GT inventory and has a customer who is looking at both the 600 and the 650. So I told him I would stop by so the customer could look at both (he does have one of those legendary black 600s in stock and a white one that he said the customer is leaning toward).

Besides the fact that 600 guys get all the girls , what should the customer's priorities be when trying to decide between the two? We have several Burgman comparisons on this site, but is there something specific that caused you to choose the Beemer over the Suzuki maxi?

Style was my first thing. I find the sport to have excellent curb appeal. The big one for me, and this is my personal opinion, the Suzuki is an overgrown scooter, I've never really liked overgrown Scoots to be honest. I always thought the GTS was the best compromise between performance and style and maneuverability. Until the Beemer came out. In my mind it's a scaled down RT which is a very well respected sport tourer, then I knew that was the bike for me. This might sound shallow, but my C is perceived as a motorcycle, a very new and future forward BMW motorcycle. The Berggy will always be looked at like it's a fat scooter. On many occasions I notice the kids in their "tuner cars" gawking at my Cosmic Blue Sport in amazement, then without fail I read their lips... Holy S*#¿ ... Look at that... It's a B...M...W. The Berg will never get that type of fanfare.
