    Charging

I use the 60A - I believe the smaller ones were discontinued.

    Battery Discharge?

7500 miles in and I can count the number of times I have let my bike go under 9% on one hand. Each a result of an unplanned charger outage. Not because I’m worried about the battery, just because I don’t want to strand myself. I use https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ for trip planning which...

    2025 Model

No rumors yet, but typically the refresh announcement is made on June 30 of each year. My guess is a new color and minor firmware update. If we are lucky, an improved seat and taillight design. Assuming their usual refresh cycle, I wouldn’t expect any major changes until 2027 In the earliest.

    Side Case Lock

The side bags do not lock. I cover mine up with my jacket or more rarely carry it by the handle if I’m parked in sketchy places. You could use a simple luggage alarm lock with it if you were paranoid, but better to just not leave your valuables.

    Tesla Tap Mini

Away from home, I have only used my TeslaTap 3 times in 7500 miles - most recently on Saturday. I have never actually needed it though, it just happened to be that there was free charging along my route for Tesla’s only. I only carry charging adapters with me if I’m traveling 100 miles or more.

Any Chance of a Software Update to Stop Charging when selected SOC reached?

I have my doubts about this capability ever being added. BMW isn't known for firmware updates and already silently limits the CE 04 charge to 95% - even when you charge to 100%. The range is already pretty limited, so I just charge it to 100% every time and forget about the rest. 6500 miles and...

    Battery upgrade ?

It's possible - but I would be suspicious of anyone who advertises more than a 21% capacity improvement for the CE 04 - here's why: The 60ah modules from the C Evolution that they are upgrading from were designed 10+ years ago (2012), for a release in 2014. Two years later (2016), BMW offered...

    Broken Tail Light

From https://unfinished.bike/skene-lights-installation-on-the-bmw-ce-04 I noted a little bit about the colors, but they do change at each connection point, and I probably different between the left and the right indicator. Here's my guess: - Brown: Ground - Blue: Turn Signal - Lavender/Red...

    CE-04 Taillight Solution

I'll be curious to find out if they fit the US-spec CE 04. AFAIK, the blinker assembly is subtly different from the international version. 🍿

Dark Smoke Puig on Avantgarde Model

@2Wheelz - Now that you've had the Puig for a while, how do you like it versus the tall windscreen?

Hidden tool storage in the helmet compartment

Yup! That's a MotoPumps Air Shot, along with a Dynaplug Xtreme (IMHO, overkill). I hate riding around with my top case, so I used to keep these in my side bag until I realized there was wasted space below. :)

Hidden tool storage in the helmet compartment

In the back of the helmet compartment is a small area you might not have noticed much. It's an awkward indentation that is just enough to fit a set of emergency tools (air compressor, bike tool, torx wrench set, tire plug kit): How are they staying in place? Velcro! I added two strips on the...

CE-04 Tire thread: longevity, range, replacements

Update: the stock Maxxis Supermaxx SC rear tire still has 2mm of wear at the center wear bars, with 5877mi/9458km on the odometer. I am planning to replace the rear tire when I take the bike in for the 10,000km maintenance. I've been waiting for Heidenau K66's to show up, but they haven't been...

    Floor board removal

You can see the two tabs - fore and one aft, they seem quite sturdy and difficult to break. They went back into place with no issue after pounding on the floorboard with my palm.

    Floor board removal

Here's a picture showing where the screw is. I just tugged on this part of the floorboard with my fingers.

    Floor board removal

You know what, I yanked a little harder at the right spot and it revealed the screw hole mentioned in the picture without a big fuss. I'll have to try setting the skirt up properly now.

NIce find! Where'd you find out about the battery type?

    remind me...when can I recharge my ce04

I charge my CE-04 every day - with 5,700 miles, I haven't seen degradation yet. BMW already reserves 4.5% of the CE-04 battery capacity as unfilable slack to maintain battery health - you only get to use 8.5 of the 8.9kWh capacity. There is so little range available that I'm not going to baby...

    Floor board removal

For those of you curious what we're talking about, it's step 6 from https://cdn.0brandcommerce.com/tucanourbano/pdf/R233PRO.pdf I, too, tried yanking the rubber floor board upwards - while it gave a little, it also had enough resistance that I didn't want to force it. I see now from the...
