2020 C650GT oil filter removal! And the mysterious filter screen... Help!

Two things really: 1) Unable to get the oil filter off. Can't seem to get a strap-type wrench on it with enough leverage to turn it. Also have a metal loop wrench with the same issue. Bottom of the engine is in the way, and I have not removed any left side plastic. Even went and bought a socket...

First oil change on my C650GT

Mine turns out to be a T-50, six sided thing a ma-gig! But I found one that worked and was able to get it loose.

First oil change on my C650GT

The bottom drain bolt is not an 8mm hex, at least not on my 2020. It is six sided, so I presume a larger T-45 that I currently have. Mine just spins. Need to go find one on a Sunday at HD (Home Depot not Harley Davidson!) or a local auto place. Dang. Also not sure how much torque the last guy...

Bike knocked over in parking lot

Too bad the store did not share any security video showing that. I would be really pissed...

    Size matters (in crush washers!)

    Size matters (in crush washers!)

Broke down and just stopped at the local BMW dealer (who wanted $335 for an oil change) and paid my $4.32 for the tiny little ring of metal. the parts guy was close to telling me he could not find the right one since I did not have my VIN with me. He relented.

    Size matters (in crush washers!)

Yes, I have dutifully searched and read a few dozen posts about oil changes and found the very informative WebBikeWorld article on doing an oil change for the C650GT. In all the articles and posts there are many mentions or oil type, brands of filters, use of a screwdriver, etc. But nowhere...

Installing BMW GPS Mounting Bracket Hardware and BMW Navigator VI/Cradle on 2016 and later C650GT

While I realize this is an old thread, did *anyone* ever provide pics or more info on what all is needed to install a GPS, BMW or otherwise?

What is the trick (removing left side panels)?

Oddly only two of those push in clips needed to be removed for me to get the lower panel off. The top one stayed in. And of course, after all the knuckle busting fun, I discovered the BMW specific horn connector rather than the spade connection. Not knowing where to splice and not having...

    'New' (to me) 2020 C650GT

I have seen those but at $159 vs 12 bucks for the cramp buster, hard choice!

What is the trick (removing left side panels)?

Thanks, I did not look in the box. And I was pretty sure the front one was necessary, considering it was on an edge facing directly into the wind. Good advice though, thanks.

What is the trick (removing left side panels)?

Trying to get the side panel off to get to my horn location for a change and am already stumped. Took 3 little hex screws out (or are they torx?) and the panel pulls away after a slight lift but there seems to be a solid plastic piece about halfway down that is attached to something... cannot...

    'New' (to me) 2020 C650GT

Merci mon ami ! C'est probablement la même chose ici aux États-Unis, où l'on hésite à rouler très loin. Mais je suis membre de longue date de l'Iron Butt Association, rouler sur de longues distances est (parfois) amusant !

    'New' (to me) 2020 C650GT

Thanks! Used them before and plan on trying one for this bike too. Cycle Gear near me has them.

    'New' (to me) 2020 C650GT

Long time motorcycle rider, first time poster! After a recent long trip up to South Dakota and Wyoming in our RV, pulling a Kendon trailer and a Yamaha FJR1300A last month, we decided it might be time to look for something a little lighter weight. It is increasingly challenging to get the FJR...
