Three month with the CE-02 - lots of fun... and issues...

Just checked to see if the regen display goes all the way to left when we have full power. See pics below for stages
Thanks... For what i can tell the regen rectangle does not extend completely to the left in any of the pictures.
Is that in Flash mode?

On mine it used to go all the way before they updated the firmware...

BTW: i think you can actually see that briefly at startup when the display comes to life first, and then adjusts itself with the current status.

Hi, yes that was in flash mode. I’m going assume mine had the latest software update before I received it. Also the issue with the bike starting etc is down the button cluster on the left hand side, the power button is faulty and giving out the wrong signal or not at all. The bike had its running in service yesterday and it was diagnosed at the time, I’m having to wait for 2 weeks for a replacement to be delivered to BMW Motorrad and then fitted under warranty. Also today I received the rear view mirrors, let me know what you all think.

Hi all.
I got my ce02 on June 2024. I do just few days ago the check on bmw.
Since in my city is still cold (max 15°) i never get the CHARGE "label" when in flash or flow. The left bar is at about 80% of the available space. The traction is "OK" (not "COLD", I see those label one time , about 30 days ago with about 5° c)

On the last summer i regularly charge when riding and the CHARGE label was always displayed. I would like to know if happens to others and also they notice that on temperature changing conditions...

Tks. Bye! :)

Hey . A bit late to this question but yes, same for me. I’m in UK and over winter there is no way my battery will fully regenerate, however now it’s warmer it usually does after the battery is used for a few miles, regen is stronger also

Hello guys
I bought a ce-02, a used showroom bmw ce-02 with 1000kms on the clock, so far i found the led for regen limited in the morning its cold here but after 1 km all goes ok, the regen bar is not full when over 80 ish percent when battery goes down 80 ish i get full regen bar.
What are your kms per charge?
I use flash and i live in a place that you go up and down like a city in the side of a mountain and always as possible full throttle i do 67kms average. What about you guys?
My cluster version is 12.10.9.3
I get the turtle around 30% battery, does this happen to you too guys?

Hi 👋🏼 so what you will find with the CE02 is they really don’t like the cold at all, if you see the turtle it’s because the batteries are cold and it won’t give you full power until they are, you will find as they gradually warm the power bar goes up until it finally gives you all. If the batteries are fully charged the regen is off, zero engine braking also. As the batteries drain the regen kicks in and so does the engine braking. I’ve had the bike outside overnight in 0c and I can tell you it won’t go over 15mph until those batteries start to warm. As for seeing the regen say charging, you won’t see it unless you’ve been out riding for some time in mild weather. We have bike nights here and I’m out for few hrs and it’s the only time I see charging show. I find when I’ve drained the batteries to where there is only 10miles left in charge it will ask to change power settings to help, you can just override this by clicking no on the cluster. On average I get 57 miles per charge out of it, although it really depends on how much your giving it full throttle.

Yes, above 80% the battery is considered full, so it won’t regen. Also, if you accelerate hard and you’re below 40%, it goes into power-saving mode but then turns off again. In any case, power-saving mode kicks in at 15%.

The regen bar is affected by ambient temperature. Above 25 °C it will always be available, otherwise only after the battery warms up, usually after 4–5 km. In winter, it never activates… :(

I get 5.0 kWh per 100 km. I’ve never tried going from 100% to 0%, but yes, I get about 65 km. If you ride like a snail, maybe you can reach 75 km… worth testing. Cheers

Hi all.

Welcome ruiscota and estrika. ;-)

A quick update regarding the non foldable passenger footrests i had to remove, the answer finaly came form BMW: the european version is homologated with those and changing them with the retractable US version would void the homologation, so they can't provide them.

This is one of the most stupid situation i can imagine: the non retractable european version is dangerous IMO and getting the us version 'classic retractable' ones would make the bike illegal. So unless i get someone to buy the us version in the states and ship them to me, i have zero options. However, doing that would cost a lot and is probably not worth the trouble. So no passengers for me.

As a side note, when the BMW service removed my passenger footrest following my demand, they didn't replace the attachement screws. I discovered some time after that my left side panel was clanging... because it used to be secured at the bottom with the footrest. How come they let go a bike with missing screws and parts clanging? That looks like a crappy job to me...

Regarding the range i get, i can't really tell since i nerver go very far and tend to charge when i'm around 50%. I don't like the loss of traction and punch as the batteries deplete. I love when it's full with max torque. My estimate would be around 70Km. I also live in a part with lots of up and downs. Using flash of course.

I had unbalanced batteries again a couple times when charging. I'm wondering whether that has to do with me plugging the charger without having the key with me... This is still an odd behavior. Last time it happened, i let the bike for a couple hours and tried again. This time both batteries where charging. Thankfuly this does not happen too often.

I have yet to go to the 1000Km run-in check.

I only charged my bike 2 times so i am still feeling the machine, today i started with a full battery charge but instead flash mode i used surf mode, no regen mode, by marked 60kms of range made 6kms when i stopped i had 64kms in range, so i think that info is some type of usage you do to your bike, my 1300gs uses some type of similar calculation with fuel range, you fill the gas tank and shows you 240kms of range but if you chill the throttle after a while you se 290 or more in range, anyway i am loving this little rocket ce-02, in transit is way more fast that my gs because i can pass every time. Regarding kwh per 100km mine show 6.5kwh but is nice to know that can be improved.
I am having problems connecting my phone, phone finds bike but do not connect, bmw app dont find devices, any advice?

I printed some simple foot peg lockers, they are interchangable left to right can be saved under the seat, its a simple plug and play and they are kept in place by the foot peg spring force itself, tomorrow i will test then in rought streets to see if they fall

Hi guys - I just got my CE 02 yesterday and it's charging now. It's cut out a couple of times - which I found odd - but seems to have got a grip now... I'm with you all on the mirrors and will be copying you there..! Also think the footpegs are a bit of a pain in the arse and the printed holsters look ideal! I'd be very interested. I have used them when at top speed but otherwise tend not to. What a blast! I mean - what a blast. And I also ride a BMW R nineT... This is way more fun..!
