I’m between bikes post-SUV intervention, and have narrowed it down to a new Burgman 650 or C650GT. I see some of you have switched from Burgman 650s, so I’d love your first-hand experience. I had my 2008 Burgman 650 Executive for 9 years and 36,000 miles, and take long rides, mostly with a passenger, and am looking for comfort over speed and safety in the city (Washington, DC).
The BMW’s integration on the handlebars, ease of changing oil without removing many covers, etc. seem better thought out than the Burgman who has the fake gears (I never used) and after-thought heated grips and seat switches. I rode a 2016 and it felt similar in power to my Burgman (in power mode) with slightly worse wind protection but markedly better suspension. I’m a bit worried about maintenance of the BMW as my Burgman only visited the shop for tires and two valve clearance checks. Luckily, I’m blessed to have the ability to afford more expensive maintenance if required. There’s a 2016 C650GT with under 100 miles on it near me at a good price and I’m VERY tempted.
Any input is helpful!
So my question to you - if you carried a passenger on long trips, which bike would you buy?
